COACH OMAR SANCHEZ

What made you get into martial arts?
My father took my older brother and I into a taekwondo gym in California when I was 7. From there I grew to love competition and contact sports.

Tell us about your journey/background/accomplishments?
At an early age I was always a fan of the warrior/samurai culture. People like Bruce Lee, Van Damme, and Jackie Chan inspired me. Throughout my youth, I had a love-hate relationship with training, I was a knucklehead and lacked discipline. Life beat me up a bit and during my late 20’s I felt the need to start training again. A friend recommended HAMA and here I am!

What is your goal as a coach?
My goal as a coach is to continue developing my craft as a fighter and as a coach, be a role model, empower the people, minorities, women, children, and the elderly. Lastly, to hopefully one day contribute to and corner a prizefighter.

What makes High Altitude Martial Arts special?
High Altitude is a special place because the community is strong, non judgmental with people from all walks of life. Training here gives you exposure. It allows you to challenge yourself mentally and physically. You definitely kill 3 birds with one stone. You learn, you workout, and socialize. Hope to see you on the mats soon!
