Alistair Overeem will headline Glory: Collision 4 in the Netherlands against Badr Hari on Saturday October 8th 2022. Overeem traded in his MMA gloves for boxing gloves and is ready to make his return to kickboxing after spending the last decade in the octagon. He is facing Hari for a 3rd time making this a highly anticipated trilogy bout.

The first meeting between Overeem and Hari took place in 2008 and ended with a huge upset by a left hook from Overeem that knocked Hari out. The following year, Hari got his revenge and took home a TKO victory, stopping Overeem in the 2009 World Grand Prix Semi-finals. . Now, almost 13 years later, the two heavyweights will collide once again to finally settle the score. Many years have passed, many fights have happened, both fighters have seen victory and defeat. There is no bad blood between them.

Overeem is from the Netherlands so the fans there are in for a special treat. Overeem says, “It’s destiny for me to return to kickboxing and Glory.” He is the former K-1 World Grand Prix champion. He also held world titles in Strikeforce and Dream but his final run for the UFC world title fell short.

Overeem was previously signed with the UFC and trained with Elevation Fight Team in Denver, CO. He was a heavyweight title contender and fan favorite. His last fight was in February of 2021 against Alexander Volkov. After his TKO loss, he was released but he was not done fighting, even with a record of 47-19, 1 NC. The 42 year old is not ready to retire from active competition. “I wasn’t built for a nine-to-five job”, says the superstar. There are talks that he will go to pro wrestling after this. Or maybe he will step into more of a coaching role? Or perhaps he will go to Bellator? For now, Overeem is focused on this kickboxing match ahead of him.

Overeem fans around the world will undoubtedly be turning in for his return to the kickboxing ring. Overeem did not do this camp with the Elevation Fight Team for this fight but remained in Holland and also spent some time in Thailand. He will always be part of the High Altitude and Elevation family. Let’s go, Alistair!
